Kickboxing is a modern Martial Art, which is trained with the consideration that boxing gloves will be worn. Kickboxing is generally taught as a competition style with a 2 or 3 minute round format. Kickboxing is a fast, practical path to self defence and fitness, learning about athletic performance, a positive attitude to life & overall health and how to achieve it. Double Dragon teaches this style as a 5 level-graded curriculum. - Level 1 - covers motor skill development for: - Boxing punches, footwork, leg kicks front kicks & the basic defences for all of these techniques. The classes have an interesting content making them fun & a complete exercise programme. Class content includes warm up flexibility, skill development, challenging cardio on focus pads & kick pads, medicine ball & bodyweight exercises as well as abdominal & core training. - Level 2 - you are required to improve and develop all level1 skills as well as learning mid section kicks grabbing kicks switch kicking, combining punches & kicks. Level 2 also starts to learn Knee striking techniques & Muay Thai grappling skills. - Level 3 - you are required to fine-tune all of the previous techniques, to a level that you have instinctive natural defence - attack responses are comfortable & relaxed in a rhythm sparring situation. A good understanding and practical application of grappling off balancing and neutralising the ability not to be thrown to the ground is required. - Level 4 - you will be required to complete the N.S.W. Government, National Coaching accreditation scheme level 1 accreditation. You need to be able to express your style & manage a class. You must be able to express & create drills for students to undertake & develop the motor skills of the style. These advanced levels also require you to understand & outline a programme, to periodise & train a fighter for competition. This would incorporate adaptation, strength & conditioning, specific conditioning, skill development, diets, making weight & physiological preparation. You will also need to understand outline the bodies energy systems & what part they play in the requirements for fight training. - Level 5 - Earning the respect of their mentor, training partners & students in the gym. The Level 2 of the N.S.W. Government, National Coaching accreditation scheme is required. The 5 Level graded system allows students to progress at their own pace, to get in really good shape learn real life self defence skills or even train for competition if they are inclined. It is an enjoyable above average Fitness with a purpose. Contact is not required if you do not want to. Or you can even train to become a coach. |
