welcome

Hays Daewoud has been studying Martial Arts for over 15 years. He initially studied numerous styles of Karate & Hapkido before meeting Mick Spinks. Hays started training at Double Dragon Martial Arts in January 1998

Hays' uncle, George Zakharia was one of the first Australians to compete in a Kickboxing match that included leg kicks (before this, kicking was only allowed above the waist).

George Zakharia is the main reason Hays began training in the Martial Arts & was very pleased when Hays chose Mick Spinks as his mentor. Hays trains with his uncles & Paul Fyfield every opportunity he gets when he travels to Melbourne.

He is the instructor at Double Dragon Martial Arts Gym of the Dragon Fist Freestyle system. The great Bruce Lee started the trend for this open-ended freestyle concept.

Freestyle is a combination of the styles that Hays is currently studying. Hays’ mentor is Sifu Mick Spinks who is the Master instructor at Double Dragon & the creator of the Dragon fist Freestyle system.

Hays trains in Freestyle, Kung Fu, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, Filipino Stick Fighting (Arnis, Kali), Boxing & Kickboxing (Thai Boxing). Hays also enjoys Martial arts weaponry, and currently trains with Nunchaku, Sai, Sticks, Pole (Bo) & the Katana (Samurai Sword).

To increase his knowledge of the Martial Arts, Hays regularly attends Martial Arts seminars, these include, Aikido, Krav Maga, BJJ, Close Quarter Combat and many others. The Dan Inosanto (Bruce Lee’s training partner) seminar being the most memorable.

Hays has been taught and been influenced by many Australian & World renowned martial artists they include, Mick Spinks, George Zakharia, Nick Zakharia, Ziad Zakharia, Paul Fyfield, Bob Jones, John Will, Billy Solous & Dan Inosanto.

Hays has also done Television work, he featured as a kickboxer in two episodes of the Australian police drama "Young Lions". He also played a Martial Artist in a big budget US TV commercial for Mitsubishi. The commercial has aired in the USA, Canada, & Mexico.

He carries his passion for the arts with him in his journey, making Martial Arts a part of his life.
